Meet Mydei Honkai Star Rail, the fierce and relentless warrior who’s about to shake things up in Version 3.1.
As a 5-star Imaginary character following the Destruction path, Mydei isn’t here to play nice. With a combat style that sacrifices his own HP to deliver devastating damage, he’s a powerhouse for players who love high-risk, high-reward gameplay.
But his unique “Vendetta” state also lets him bounce back from the brink of defeat, making him one of the most resilient damage dealers in the game.
Beyond his battle prowess, Mydei’s story is deeply entwined with the Amphoreus narrative, where his thirst for vengeance and unyielding honor make him a compelling figure.
So, if you’re curious about his banner release, skills, or signature Light Cone, we’ll give you all the details about him.
Who is Mydei in Honkai Star Rail?

So, who exactly is Mydei in HSR? Well, he’s not just another bruiser swinging a big sword; he’s a pivotal figure in the Amphoreus storyline and the rightful successor to Castrum Kremnos.
As one of the Chrysos Heirs, Mydei shoulders the heavy responsibility of defeating corrupted Titans and reclaiming their Coreflame to restore peace. Beneath his duty lies a burning thirst for vengeance, which drives many of his actions throughout the story.
Players first encounter Mydei during the mission “Silver Chariot, Away to the Blackened Land,” where he joins forces with Phainon and their crew to battle the corrupted Furiae Warriors.
It’s here that his personality shines through–fierce, competitive, and not one to back down from a fight. He even makes a wager with Phainon to see who can rack up the most kills. When he loses, he sticks to his word, proving that while he may be fiery, his sense of honor runs deep.
His story takes a dramatic turn during the battle against Nikador, the seemingly immortal Mad Titan. Despite his power, Mydei recognizes when the fight is unwinnable and volunteers to hold the line, allowing his allies to escape and regroup.

This self-sacrificing moment cements him as more than just a hot-headed warrior; cause he’s someone willing to lay everything on the line for his cause.
And when the dust settles after Nikador’s defeat, Mydei’s integrity stands firm. Even when offered the Coreflame, he refuses, staying true to his beliefs and the traditions of his people.
At his core, Mydei is a complex character–torn between duty, revenge, and the code of honor that defines the Chrysos Heirs. One thing’s for sure; Mydei is not a character you’ll forget anytime soon.

Mydei HSR Skills Overview

So you know when Mydei’s banner drops–but what exactly can he do on the battlefield? Well, as a 5-star Imaginary Destruction character, he thrives on pushing himself to the edge; literally.
His abilities revolve around sacrificing his own HP to unleash devastating damage, while his “Vendetta” state transforms him into an unstoppable force with boosted stats and unique mechanics. Here’s a breakdown of everything Mydei brings to the fight:
Basic Attack – Vow of Voyage
Simple but effective–Mydei’s basic attack delivers Imaginary Damage to a single target. The damage scales off 50% of his Max HP, which means the more HP he has, the harder he hits.

Unlike some other Destruction characters, his basic attack is no slouch thanks to his HP-scaling mechanic.
Skill – Deaths are Legion, Regrets are None
This is where things get intense. Mydei sacrifices 50% of his current HP to deliver a Blast of Imaginary Damage.
The primary target takes damage equal to 90% of his Max HP, while adjacent enemies take 50% of his Max HP in damage.
If his HP isn’t high enough, the skill won’t kill him outright but will drop his health to 1 HP. It’s a risky move, but the damage payoff is massive, making this skill a core part of his aggressive playstyle.
Ultimate – Throne of Bones

Mydei’s Ultimate is a game-changer. It restores 20% of his Max HP and generates 20 Talent Charge points; which fuels his powerful Vendetta state. Damage-wise, it hits the primary target with 160% of his Max HP and adjacent enemies with 100% of his Max HP.
And more of that, his Ultimate has a 100% base chance to Taunt enemies for 2 turns, forcing them to target him. It’s the ultimate power move if you want to draw fire away from your squishier teammates while dishing out heavy damage.
Talent – Blood for Blood
Every time he loses HP, he gains 1 Charge point for each 1% of HP lost (up to 200 points). Once fully charged, he automatically enters Vendetta, restoring 25% of his Max HP and advancing his action by 100%, letting him act immediately.
While in Vendetta, Mydei becomes a tanky beast; his Max HP increases by 50%, and he’s immune to Crowd Control debuffs.
He also loses all Defense, meaning he’s vulnerable but delivers non-stop offense. If he reaches 150 points of Charge while in Vendetta, he gains an extra turn and unleashes his devastating Enhanced Skill automatically.
Oh, you might be impressed cause if he takes a killing blow while in Vendetta, he doesn’t go down. Instead, he exits Vendetta, clears his Charge, and restores 50% of his Max HP. Talk about refusing to die!

Enhanced Skill 1 – Kingslayer Be King

When Mydei is in Vendetta, he unlocks this stronger version of his normal skill. It costs 35% of his current HP and deals 110% of his Max HP as Imaginary Damage to one enemy, while also hitting adjacent targets for 66% of his Max HP. Just like his regular skill, if his HP isn’t enough, it drops him to 1 HP instead.
Enhanced Skill 2 – Godslayer Be God
This is Mydei’s most powerful move, and it only activates when he reaches 150 Charge points during Vendetta.
It deals a jaw-dropping 280% of his Max HP as Imaginary Damage to a single target and 168% of his Max HP to nearby enemies. When this skill triggers, he stops accumulating Charge, ensuring that all his built-up rage is released in one massive strike.
Technique – Cage of Broken Lance
Outside of combat, Mydei’s Technique pulls enemies into a designated area and inflicts Daze for 10 seconds, preventing them from attacking.
If you initiate combat while enemies are Dazed, he deals 80% of his Max HP as AoE Imaginary Damage and Taunts all enemies for 1 turn–a perfect way to start battles on your terms.
Traces – Passive Buffs That Make Him Stronger

Mydei also has a set of passive abilities (called Traces) that further enhance his combat effectiveness:
- Trace 1 – Earth and Water: If Mydei takes fatal damage while in Vendetta, he doesn’t leave the state. This effect can trigger up to 3 times per battle, making him absurdly hard to kill.
- Trace 2 – Thirty Tyrants: While in Vendetta, he’s immune to Crowd Control debuffs, allowing him to stay aggressive no matter what.
- Trace 3 – Bloodied Chiton: If Mydei’s Max HP exceeds 400 at the start of the battle, he gains bonus effects based on the excess amount—boosting his CRIT Rate, increasing Charge from enemy damage, and enhancing incoming healing.
Stat Boosts from Traces
- 37.3% CRIT Damage Boost
- +5 Speed
- 18% HP Boost.
Mydei Honkai Star Rail Signature Light Cone & Eidolons
To fully unlock Mydei’s potential in Honkai Star Rail, his Signature Light Cone and Eidolons play a crucial role.

Both enhance his already devastating kit by boosting his damage output, improving his survivability, and amplifying his Vendetta mechanic. After this, you can learn what makes them so essential for maximizing Mydei’s power.
Mydei’s Signature Light Cone: Flame of Blood, Blaze My Path

This Light Cone is tailor-made for Mydei, boosting Max HP, healing received, and damage based on HP consumption.
