About PUBG Mobile
PUBG Mobile (PUBGM) is a battle royale mobile game developed by LightSpeed & Quantum Studios under Tencent Games, with the original PUBG IP owned by Krafton from South Korea. Global distribution outside mainland China is handled by Level Infinite. The game was first released in 2018 and has surpassed 1 billion downloads on Google Play and the App Store.
PUBG Mobile offers a variety of game modes. Classic Mode features Solo, Duo, and Squad formats with 100 players competing on a large map. For quick matches, Arcade Mode includes TDM (Team Deathmatch) 4v4 and Arena Mode with shorter duration. Special seasonal modes are also rotated regularly alongside collaboration events.
The maps available include Erangel (the classic original), Miramar (desert terrain), Sanhok (tropical jungle), Vikendi (snow), and Livik (small map exclusive to mobile). Each map has its own loot economy and tactical character, ranging from long-range combat in Miramar to close-quarter fights in Livik.
In Malaysia, PUBG Mobile remains one of the largest battle royale titles in 2026 with an active player base across competitive and casual segments. The local esports scene thrives through PMPL MY/SG (PUBG Mobile Pro League Malaysia/Singapore), with top teams progressing to PMSL SEA (PUBG Mobile Super League Southeast Asia) and the global PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC).
Krafton has also released two related titles often confused with PUBG Mobile. BGMI (Battlegrounds Mobile India) is a region-locked version exclusive to the Indian market following the original game's regional ban in 2020. PUBG New State is a futuristic sequel set in the year 2051. Both are region-locked with smaller player bases, so Malaysian players continue to use the standard PUBG Mobile global build with SEA server access.
What is PUBG UC?
UC stands for Unknown Cash, the premium virtual currency in PUBG Mobile issued directly by Tencent. UC is used to buy premium in-game items that cannot be obtained through free gameplay. The value of each UC is constant, and your balance stays attached to your PUBG ID permanently until spent.
There are 5 main things you can purchase with UC:
- Royale Pass (RP): the season pass running for 2 months with access to 100 reward tiers. Royale Pass Elite costs 600 UC, while Elite Plus costs 1,800 UC.
- Crate: gacha boxes containing rare items. Popular crate types include Lucky Crate, Premium Crate, and Classic Crate, each with different odds and prices.
- Weapon Skin: premium weapon skins such as M416 Glacier, AKM Gold Plate, or Kar98 Vampire, available directly from the shop without going through crates.
- Character Outfit: exclusive character costumes, including collaboration sets with BLACKPINK, Spider-Man, and Dragon Ball.
- Emote and Vehicle Skin: character animations and vehicle customisations to stand out in the lobby and during matches.
PUBG Mobile also has two free currencies. Battle Points (BP) are earned from playing matches and used to open Classic Crate. Silver Fragment is earned from Royale Pass and can be exchanged for items in the Silver Shop. UC stands apart from BP and Silver because it can buy rare items the free currencies cannot touch, and its conversion rate is the highest.
UC cannot be farmed through regular gameplay. The only ways to obtain UC are by purchasing it with real money or winning it through official giveaways and tournament rewards, which are limited. For active PUBG Mobile players, regular UC top up becomes a routine part of each season.
Royale Pass PUBG Mobile: Elite vs Elite Plus
Royale Pass (RP) is the paid season pass in PUBG Mobile, granting access to exclusive reward tracks throughout one season. Each season lasts approximately 2 months and offers 100 reward tiers. Tiers are unlocked by completing daily missions, weekly missions, or earning RP Points through matches.
Tencent provides 2 versions of Royale Pass:
| Version | Price | What You Get |
|---|
| Royale Pass Elite | 600 UC | Access to all 100 premium reward tiers throughout the season |
| Royale Pass Elite Plus | 1,800 UC | All Elite benefits + auto-unlock for the first 25 tiers + 1 exclusive outfit set |
Royale Pass Elite is the right choice if you play regularly, at least 5 times a week, and have time to grind tiers. Elite Plus makes more sense if your play schedule is irregular but you still want to collect season rewards, since the first 25 tiers unlock automatically plus you receive an exclusive outfit set not available in standard Elite.
Royale Pass reward content includes character outfits, weapon skins, parachute skins, vehicle skins, emotes, voice packs, name cards, and bonus UC. Calculated by individual market value, the total season reward can reach 4,000 to 5,000 UC, significantly higher than the price of the pass itself. This is why Royale Pass is considered value-for-money for regular players.
For UC top up specifically to buy Royale Pass, the recommended denominations are:
- Royale Pass Elite (600 UC): pick the 660 UC nominal at Lapakgaming MY, the remaining 60 UC can be saved for the next event.
- Royale Pass Elite Plus (1,800 UC): pick the 1,800 UC nominal, or go for 3,850 UC if you also want to buy a weapon crate.
Buy Royale Pass at the start of each season to maximise grinding time and unlock all tiers before the season resets.
Tips for Smart UC Spending
Efficient UC top up requires planning, not just buying as much as you can when the mood strikes. The 6 tips below will help you spend UC with more direction so your gaming budget stays under control each month.
1. Wait for Discount Events and New Seasons
Tencent and Lapakgaming MY run regular top up promotions at the start of new Royale Pass seasons, the PUBG Mobile anniversary in March, and major collaboration events. Discounts typically range from 10 to 20 percent through promo codes or payment method cashback. Check the Lapakgaming Promo page before topping up large amounts to save tens of ringgit per transaction.
2. Pick Larger Denominations for Bonus UC
Tencent applies progressive bonus UC on higher denominations. 60 UC has no bonus, 325 UC includes a 25 UC bonus, 660 UC adds 60 UC, and 1,800 UC carries a 300 UC bonus. If you genuinely need bigger spending, buying 1,800 UC and above in a single transaction is 8 to 12 percent cheaper per UC compared to buying 60 UC multiple times.
3. Pick Royale Pass Based on Play Frequency
Royale Pass Elite (600 UC) suits players who log in regularly since reward tiers must be earned through missions. Elite Plus (1,800 UC) makes more sense if you play less often but still want to complete the season collection, because the first 25 tiers auto-unlock plus you get an exclusive outfit. For casual players, Elite usually delivers better ROI.
4. Understand Each Crate's Odds Before Pulling
Each crate has a different character. Lucky Crate has low odds for rare items but a low UC price. Premium Crate has medium odds with limited item rotation each week. Classic Crate is free using BP rather than UC, so finish your Classic Crate openings first before spending UC on Premium Crate.
5. Prioritise Gun Skin Over Emote
Gun skins such as M416 Glacier, AKM Gold Plate, or Kar98 Vampire come with a level upgrade system. The higher the level, the more impressive the kill animations and visual effects, which gives them long-term value. Emotes and voice packs are purely cosmetic and rarely used. A reasonable allocation is 70 percent of your UC budget for gun skins or Royale Pass, 30 percent for outfits, and minimal spending on emotes.
6. Set a Monthly UC Budget
Decide your monthly top up budget at the start of the month and stick to it. Casual players are usually covered with 1,800 to 3,850 UC per month for Royale Pass plus a few crates. Competitive players may go higher, but avoid impulsive top ups after losing matches late at night. Log every transaction in your phone notes so end-of-month evaluation is easier.
